Privacy Policy

Proximity Chat is built with privacy as its core principle. We collect the absolute minimum data required to match you with nearby users — and we store none of it.
TL;DR: No messages are stored. No user accounts exist. No data is sold. Everything disappears when you disconnect.
1. Data We Process (But Never Store)
- Approximate location (city-level): Derived server-side from your IP address via Cloudflare's edge network. We never use GPS, and your browser's geolocation API is never called.
- Language preference: The language you select for matching. Held in server memory only while you're connected.
- Display name: The nickname you choose. Held in server memory only while you're connected.
- Chat messages: Relayed directly between you and your chat partner in real-time. Messages are never written to any database, log file, or storage layer.
2. Data We Store Locally (On Your Device Only)
- Device ID: A random UUID generated on install, stored in chrome.storage.local. Never sent to any third party.
- Preferences: Your language choice, match scope, and display name. Stored locally only.
- Saved contacts: Nicknames and device IDs of people you choose to save. Stored locally only.
3. Data We Never Collect
- No email addresses or phone numbers
- No GPS coordinates or precise location
- No message content, transcripts, or chat history
- No browsing history or page content
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising IDs
- No cookies
4. No Database
Our server uses Cloudflare Durable Objects with purely in-memory state. When your connection closes, your data is removed instantly. There is no database to breach because no database exists.

Zero. We retain no user data beyond the duration of an active connection.
7. Children's Privacy
Proximity Chat is not directed at children under 13.
